Good for sub-zero temps, oversized or rental boots, backcountry touring boots, and resort days when the wind chill turns brutal.

Merino Weight vs. Actual Warmth: What the Numbers Mean

Fit Optimization: The Part Everyone Skips
Buy your ski socks before you get boots fitted, not after. A good bootfitter sizes the shell and liner around the sock you’re actually going to wear, not a generic guess. Show up in a cotton crew sock, switch to heavyweight merino later, and you’ll end up with a boot that’s suddenly too tight.
Never double up on socks. I don’t care what your uncle said in 1994 — two pairs restricts circulation and traps moisture between layers, which makes your feet colder, not warmer. One sock, right weight, right fit. Every time.
